Out-of-School time hands-on engineering programs for students grades 2-8, using award winning curriculum from Engineering is Elementary, Museum of Science, Boston. Each unit introduces and immerses students into a specific engineering discipline developmentally appropriate for the grade level. Kid's Innovation Playground will customize your school or organization's offerings and provide instruction to enhance your existing curriculum to achieve both Pennsylvania Engineering and Technology Standards and School Career Work Standards. More importantly students will practice a growth mindset in an enjoyable relaxed setting.
Students will be introduced to Birdbrain Technologies Hummingbird:Bit where they will program single and tri LED lights, positional and rotational servo motors, and sensors, using the block coding program MakeCode. These components will be designed into various arts and crafts to automate and animate their projects. Students will follow the engineering design process to ask, imagine, plan, create and improve their designs. Goals for each session are to create and code for artistic expression, practice a growth mindset and use mistakes to grow and learn, and enjoy collaborating and communicating with peers.
WeVideo is an online video editor that makes it easy to capture, create, view and share your movies at up to 4K resolution for stunning playback anywhere. Students will create their own videos using advanced video editing features made easy through a simple interface. In this intro class students will:

Garfield’s Cyber Safety Adventures is an award-winning and engaging digital citizenship program developed by top cybersecurity professionals to teach basic internet safety to elementary age children. The nonprofit Center for Cyber Safety and Education teamed up with the cybersecurity professionals at (ISC)² and legendary cartoonist Jim Davis to create a fun, entertaining and interactive way for the children to learn how to be safe and secure online. Kid's Innovation Playground can customize a program for your school or organization to tackle online topics such as privacy, safe posting, and cyber-bullying.
